Saint Mary MacKillop is Australia’s most loved Saint! 150 years ago, she devoted her life to educating all — no matter their background. That’s because she saw the power of education as a pathway out of poverty.
In Australia, Mary MacKillop Today supports people experiencing marginalisation to improve their quality of life through education opportunities and financial relief.
Together, through the generous support of people like you:
- 30 First Nations students were provided with scholarship support over the past year so they could pursue their dream of higher education
- 132 Australians across Central West NSW joined our Financial Literacy sessions to lift themselves out of debt and achieve financial freedom.
Meet Bridie, First Nations Scholarship recipient and Honours student. Bridie is a proud Wiradjuri woman from Bateman’s Bay on the New South Wales far south coast.
Bridie shared, “I’m the first in my family to go to university. My mum is a single mother of four children and the scholarship was a big help in providing financial assistance.”
“I want to say a big thank you to Mary MacKillop Today supporters. I want to tell them that I really appreciate them, and that their money is making a huge difference to indigenous peoples by enabling us to go to university.”
“I have five nephews and I really want to show them that they can also go to university and do whatever they want to.”
